So thrilled to announce casting for a handful of upcoming gigs!!
I just got word today that we're probably going forward with this one and it's SOON, so I wanted to see who's interested/available: Dance in Unlikely Places (for National Dance Week) - this gig is not 100% confirmed yet but it's looking VERY promising. I've pitched Friday, April 30 at 4 and/or 6 pm as the day and time for a parade-like, site-specific performance that starts at the Pirate Ship at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, and ends at the Cave Train. Worst case scenario is that we can't get the necessary permits to do this, and have to move the show somewhere else, perhaps downtown Santa Cruz (if this is the case, we will go with a different theme other than pirates). For the show I will need: Two or three pirates and two mermaids (who will also be wenches in a different location of the performance). Think of this show more like a parkour or site-specific dance rather than an aerial show. Acrobatic, dance, and/or aerial skills are a must. There will be minimal speaking/acting. The pay per performance is $100 (if we do two shows), $200 for the day. I also need a volunteer crowd wrangler if anyone knows anyone who might be interested in this. Interested/available? Lemmie know.
Casting roles for Wild Maroon, an interactive, immersive musical theatre show set for production August 20th through the 22nd, 2021 at the new Scotts Valley Cultural Arts Center. Roles include: Lou - the clever yet accident-prone magical sorceress/witch who has the best of intentions with her wild inventions, but they never seem to work out. Van - the skeptical yet powerful (but not as much as Lou) wizard who was exiled by the Forest's council for being too much a trickster. Phila - one of the council members who tries to help out Lou, although she has grown weary of Lou's shenanigans as well. 5 ensemble members - aerialists, dancers, etc, who can play in a multitude of non-speaking roles. In addition to being interactive and immersive, this show involves create-your-own storyline elements that can alter the outcome. It is highly audience participatory, and there will be professional pay available. We may have access to Arts Council grants for this show, too.
The MAH accepted Stellaria into its Frequency Festival (!!), which is from September 16 - 19. I'm not sure which specific date(s) we have, but we're teaming up with Visual Endeavors and Cosmo Chic for this one. There is a lofty budget for this one :) and I'm seeking two more aerialists who are fluent in a multitude of apparatus, and/or comfortable trying out new, innovative apparatus. This is highly audience participatory, and they will be deciding the plot outcome and which apparatus we'll be using.
Please let me know if you're available and interested in any of these.
Thank you!
Jeanette
